Second trailer for Johnny Depp’s Rango

rango movieThe first teaser trailer for Rango which appeared online earlier this month was a little bit strange. It was 53 seconds of a mechanical fish floating across a desert road, which offered nothing about the film at all. Thankfully this new trailer has provided us with footage we can wrap our heads around, and we get our first look at the chameleon voiced by Johnny Depp.

It looks quite entertaining in a strange sort of way. We still don’t know anything about the film’s plot other than it’s a western, and that Depp will play a “chameleon with an identity crisis”.

The film is Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski ‘s first animated feature and he has worked with Industrial Light & Magic who used “cutting edge techniques” that will allow them “to capture and translate every aspect of Johnny’s performance, using it to drive the computer-generated character in a way that has yet to be seen in an animated feature.”

Rango, which also stars Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy, Harry Dean Stanton, Ray Winstone, and Timothy Olyphant, will be released by Paramount next March.

I think I noticed a few Fear & Loathing references in that trailer.
