This time last year Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper were fighting it out to land the lead role in Green Lantern, but now they are coming together for an action-comedy which is being described as “an updated Lethal Weapon” that goes into “edgier R-rated territory”.
From Risky Business:
The story follows two friends, who are also San Francisco cops, whose fathers were once partners on the police force. The older generation is forced out of retirement to help their sons crack a case, with typically antagonistic results.
The script is written by Sheldon Turner (Up in the Air) and was called Blowback five years ago with Dwayne Johnson attached to one of the roles.
No word on when filming will begin (no studio is currently attached), but it probably won’t be for a while as Ryan Reynolds has Deadpool, Green Lantern 2, Safe House with Denzel Washington, and a bunch of other movies in various stages of development.
