Ryan Murphy has had a hell of a last few years. The success of “Glee” and “American Horror Story” has given him the leverage to venture out of television and into the film atmosphere, and in 2010 he directed A-lister Julia Roberts in Eat Pray Love. Now the multi-talented writer/producer/director is working on a film called One Hit Wonders, and is looking to cast actors of a similar caliber: Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz, Gwenyth Paltrow, Beyonce, and Andy Samburg are all lined up to join. Read on for the plot.
The story for this one came to be in the most “Hollywood” way possible: Murphy was at a swanky dinner with Witherspoon, Diaz, and Paltrow, and they all thought it would be fun to work on something together, so they spitballed ideas until One Hit Wonders came out. The plot will center around three female singers who scored big hits back in the 90s but their careers have taken a nosedive, so they decide to form a supergroup. The one positive aspect of this project? Andy Samburg’s real-life band The Lonely Island will contribute music for the movie. Murphy will write with his “Glee” co-creators Ian Brennan and Brad Falchuk. Anybody out there hoping this will be any good?
