First look at Russell Crowe as Robin Hood!

Hey look! It’s Maximus Decimus Meridius with a bow and arrow instead of a sword! USA Today got our first look at Russell Crowe as Robin Hood, and if Filmonic was one of those gossip blogs I would comment on how Crowe has lost sooooo much weight since State of Play, and how the blue sooooo doesn’t go with the brown. But i’m not. So I won’t. Cast your merry eyes below!

“He doesn’t have the old Robin Hood tights,” says producer Brian Grazer. “He’s got armor. He’s very medieval. He looks, if anything, more like he did in Gladiator than anything we’re used to seeing with Robin Hood.”

“Oddly, it’s a metaphor for today,” Grazer says. “He’s trying to create equality in a world where there are a lot of injustices. He’s a crusader for the people, trying to reclaim some of the ill-gotten gains of the wealthy. That’s a universal theme.”

Not that the film will linger on the contemporary. “We just shot a scene where Maid Marion fires a flaming bow and arrow into the night sky. It’s just a cool story.”

After looking at this, my eyes are definitely merry! Crowe has never looked better. Can't wait for this movie.

now i love ridley scotts movies, i can't say i love his choises some times...but honestley another robin hood!? Realy? despite peoples bitching about kevin costner's accent or lack there of, robin hood prince of thieves was the best robin hood movie. the sets were great the acting was good the story every thing the fighting...i'll go see this one but do we realy need more re-makes or re-boots? and do we need to see russell crowe in another ridley scott picture?

As far as I am concerned there will only be one Robin Hood, Kevin Costner. While I am not a huge fan of his, that role was written for him and is what alot of people remember him for. However, this film will be a must see for me as it will be interesting to see what Ridley Scott does with the story.

It seems almost every big actor feels the need to play Robin Hood, i wonder why that is??
