Saving people from drowning just isn’t enough for the elite of the elite, so in comes a good old criminal plot to save the day in the new trailer for Baywatch.
“Devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchannon butts heads with a brash new recruit. Together, they uncover a local criminal plot that threatens the future of the Bay.”
It’s immediately obvious that Paramount are trying to 21 Jump Street Baywatch and honestly I don’t see how else they could have handled this project. I mean you know it’s probably not going to be anywhere near as good, but what they’ve showed so far of this does seem entertaining with just the right amount of stupid (okay maybe a bit too much at certain points). It definitely looks a lot better than you’d expect a Baywatch reboot in 2017 to look. And maybe it does eventually turn into a lucrative franchise, like 21 Jump Street did.
Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) directed Baywatch while Damian Shannon and Mark Swift penned the screenplay. Starring in the action-comedy are Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Hannibal Buress and many others, including cameos from David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.
Baywatch opens May 10th in France and May 26th in the US, where it will go up against Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
