Rob Schneider is getting back into the feature film business, but he’s got an unexpected dance partner: Gale Anne Hurd, former wife of James Cameron and producer of The Terminator films, The Incredible Hulk, and the hit AMC television show “The Walking Dead.” They’re teaming up for Teach Me How to Dance, a comedy about a man who tries to win back his ex-girlfriend by learning how to dance. (Forehead slap.) More below.
Schneider has a new CBS sitcom called “Rob” that debuted in January, but since apparently he’ll have time to dust off his dancing shoes in between seasons for this film. Hurd is busy producing “The Walking Dead,” but on the feature side, she’s working on a movie called Very Good Girls that stars Elizabeth Olsen and Dakota Fanning as best friends that vow to lose their virginity after high school but both fall for the same guy, played by Anton Yelchin.
On a story level, I’m not sure what woman would be willing to get back together with her ex just because he suddenly learns to dance – especially if her ex is Rob Schneider. (No offense, man.) But then again, this IS a Rob Schneider movie we’re talking about here, so we can count ourselves lucky he’s not switching bodies with a llama or playing an inanimate object. (Credit where it’s due, though – Surf Ninjas was awesome.)
