Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon are busy these days. A couple of weeks ago, the “Reno: 911!” alums wrote a heist movie called Action No. 1 based on the theft of Nicolas Cage’s prized comic book, and now the duo has set their co-directorial debut. Hell Baby will star Rob Corddry and Leslie Bibb as a couple expecting a child who move into a haunted house in New Orleans, and must rely on the Vatican’s elite exorcism team (Garant and Lennon themselves) to protect them from a demonic infant.
Deadline has the story, which says that Garant and Lennon will not only star in and direct the film, but they’ll also write it as well. Corddry has been busy, too, with roles in the upcoming Seeking a Friend for the End of the World and Michael Bay’s Pain and Gain, but he’s never really been a leading man, so he’s an interesting choice on which to hang the film’s success. Leslie Bibb is no stranger to comedy, having starred in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby opposite Will Ferrell, so this could be a funny match up for a project that has the potential to be really funny (especially if it mocks exorcism movies as much as I suspect it will).
