Rio hitting DVD and Blu-ray in August

Rio Movie Image 20th Century Fox’s vibrant Rio, from the makers of Ice Age, was released back in April to good reviews and managed to make $464 million at the worldwide box office (thanks in part to genius tie-in with the mobile game Angry Birds).

20th Century Fox today announced that the Rio DVD and Blu-ray release date has been set for August 2, 2011.

Rio follows Blu (voiced by Jesse Eisenberg), a domesticated macaw from small-town Minnesota who, after meeting the fiercely independent Jewel (Anne Hathaway), takes off on an adventure to Rio de Janeiro with this bird of his dreams.
