Shortly before Transformers 3 was released, Hasbro registered the domain name Dark of the Moon for a website URL, which wound up becoming the subtitle of the third film. Hasbro has recently registered three new domain names, with the speculation being that one of them may be the subtitle for the fourth film in the series.
The potential names are as follows:
Transformers: The Last Stand
Transformers: Age of Extinction
Of these three choices, I’d think the clear winner is Age of Extinction. First of all, it would help confirm the rumor that the Dinobots will be featured in the fourth film. Secondly, those other subtitles have already been used for other popular franchises. Remember Resident Evil: Apocalypse? How about X-Men: The Last Stand? Not to mention The Last Stand being the title of the Arnold Schwarzenegger box-office flop released earlier this year.
As for the inclusion of the fan-favorite Dinobots, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura gave the following update:
I can not disclose the specifics, but you can be sure that the joining of the Dinobots will give the audience new excitement. In addition to Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, the appearance of these classic roles changed, today the world’s coolest, most exciting cars will appear in the film, including China’s vehicles, whether you are a car enthusiast, you will feast your eyes and be shocked by them.
The film is once again directed by series helmer Michael Bay, but boasts an all new cast which includes Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, T.J. Miller, Sophia Myles, Titus Welliver, and Kelsey Grammer.
A mechanic and his daughter make a discovery that brings down Autobots and Decepticons – and a paranoid government official – on them.
Part-reboot, part-sequel, Transformers: Subtitle TBD will be released on June 27th, 2014.
