According to Deadline Legendary Pictures and director Duncan Jones are in the process of casting their leads for Warcraft as they gear up for an early 2014 shoot. The two names being thrown around at the moment are Colin Farrell and Paula Patton, with Patton in negotiations and Farrell’s currently decided whether he wants to sign or not (his chances are described as 50/50).
Paula Patton recently starred in 2 Guns and gained some buzz thanks to her role in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol in 2011. Colin Farrell will next be seen alongside Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson in Saving Mr. Banks and stars opposite Will Smith in Winter’s Tale which is due out February 2014.
World of Warcraft is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game where players explore the landscape, battle monsters, and complete quests. The universe contains elements from fantasy, steampunk, and science fiction with dragons, elves, zombies and werewolves all in the mix. The game has developed a global following since its launch in 1994, and had 10.2 million subscribers as of December 2011.
Warcraft is being eyed for a 2015 release.
