promoshotSo you are an Oscar winning writer, who has worked on movies such as Crash, Million Dollar Baby and even Casino Royal, which was greatly received worldwide. As a result you are hired to write the screenplay for the next Bond movie. You work hard to get the final draft in before the writer strike begins, and then you hand it over to the talented Marc Foster to direct your script into the masterpiece you intended. That’s the life of Paul Haggis, writer of newly titled Quantum of Solace. MTV Movies Blog got a chance to talk to him on the Oscar red carpet, and he didn’t seem too pleased with the title of the film.

“I have no idea,” Paul Haggis admitted when I asked him for the meaning on the Oscar red carpet Sunday. “It’s not my title.” When I asked what he thought of it, he just sighed and said: “No comment.”

“I’m not supposed to say anything [about the plot],” he shrugged. “I finished it before the strike, and now they’re off shooting it. I haven’t actually heard from them, other than the fact that it’s going very, very well. And Marc’s doing a great job. That’s what I hear.”

Daniel Craig insisted that the title ‘ties into the plot’, but if you still have no idea what Quantum of Solace means then don’t worry, neither does the man who wrote the thing.
