A teaser trailer for this October’s Paranormal Activity 2 was released today on the official PA site. An embed of the trailer can be found after the jump – and it contains footage of the end of the original film, so if you haven’t seen it yet…be careful.

Although come to think of it, the trailer for the first film featured pretty much the same spoilerific footage, didn’t it?
So Katie is the villain now? Is it just me or is that not scary at all compared to a disembodied demonic presence? I sincerely hope it doesn’t stay that way throughout the film. A reader over at /Film has noted something hidden in the trailer that you probably won’t catch, even with multiple viewings. It’s nothing terribly exciting, but it’s creepy I guess.
While I didn’t find Paranormal Activity quite as terrifying as some seemed to – it was very entertaining and its low-budget premise still made it much more scary than any other recent horror movies. That said, this brief look at the sequel makes it look incredibly similar to the first film…and it’s obviously only being developed for the purposes of money. I don’t know if they can really add anything to the concept…I’d love it if they could, but I don’t know if they will.
The horror / thriller area is gonna be pretty packed this October, what with this, Saw VII (which I really wish they’d call Endgame), and Buried. And possibly, if we’re lucky, Oren Peli’s Area 51. To be honest, PA2 is the one I’m least looking forward to out of those.
