We heard back in June that Black Swan director Darren Aronofsky was looking for studio backing for his biblical epic Noah, which will be a big screen adaptation of the Noah’s Ark story. Now Paramount and New Regency have announced that they will get behind the project, and the aim is to get into production as early as next spring.
In the press release Aronofsky said:
“Since I was a kid, I have been moved and inspired by the story of Noah and his family’s journey. The imaginations of countless generations have sparked to this epic story of faith. It’s my hope that I can present a window into Noah’s passion and perseverance for the silver screen”.
Academy Award nominated screenwriter John Logan (Gladiator, The Aviator) will now re-write the script by Aronofsky & Ari Handel. Christian Bale was previously thought to be in line to play the lead, so with the project on track we may hear about the actor making a deal soon. If not, they’ll be finding another actor to play Noah.
