bruce willis g i joe retaliation When news first surfaced that there was going to be a sequel to G.I Joe: Rise of Cobra, it’s safe to say people were more than up in arms, and who can blame them? Then Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Bruce Willis were added to the cast, getting people curious, but no matter what, it was a still a G.I Joe movie.

However once that first trailer hit, a forgetful summer movie that no one cared about rapidly turned into one of the most anticipated in a matter of minutes.

Portman Malick Bale

Since winning Best Actress at the Academy Awards for her performance in Black Swan, Natalie Portman has stepped out of the spotlight to be a mom. But now it’s time to get back to work, and the actress has set up two back-to-back projects with the same director: none other than Terrence Malick, whose Tree of Life is up for Best Picture at this year’s Oscars and has garnered him a nomination for Best Director. I think it’s safe to say there will be a certain amount of prestige attached to these films. continue reading »

Statham Heat

William Goldman, the living legend screenwriter who wrote All The President’s Men, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and The Princess Bride, is 80 years old, but that isn’t stopping him from working in Hollywood. Back in 1986, he wrote a film called Heat – no relation to the Michael Mann classic – that was based on Goldman’s own novel. Now he’s writing another adaptation of that same story for the big screen, but instead of Burt Reynolds headlining, this time it’s Jason Statham. continue reading »

Vaughn Wilson Filmonic

Though they’ve been in many of the same movies over the years, it’s hard for me to believe that Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson have only teamed up in one true buddy movie until now. Johnny Depp Filmonic

If you’ve never heard of the West Memphis Three, I’d encourage you to seek out one of many documentaries about the three boys wrongly accused of child murder back in 1994 and the real-life drama that followed. The Paradise Lost films sparked nationwide interest in the case and got the attention of Peter Jackson, who produced an exhaustive chronicle of the events in a documentary called West of Memphis that played at Sundance 2012. Johnny Depp, Eddie Vedder, Natalie Maines, Henry Rollins, and more have been fighting for the boys for years, and now Depp will produce a movie based on an upcoming memoir written by Damien Echols, one of the accused. continue reading »

Denzel Wahlberg

For a project that was once slated to be a buddy comedy starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, 2 Guns has come a long way. Contraband director Baltasar Kormakur is now directing, and though Mark Wahlberg has been attached for a long time, it looks like an even bigger star will be teaming up with him.
