Last year the actor said ““I think Harvey — if he’s not dead — is in a serious coma”, and now Eckhart has confirmed that he won’t be making an appearance in The Dark Knight Rises.

wolverine 2 japan Back in August it looked like the race to direct The Wolverine (or Wolverine 2 as it was known then) was between David Slade (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night, Twilight: Eclipse) and Robert Schwentke (Flightplan, Red). Both had been approved by 20th Century Fox and had meetings with Hugh Jackman, who would make the final decision.

But then, as we all know, the studio entered talks Darren Aronofsky who had previously worked with Jackman on The Fountain and was riding high from Black Swan awards buzz. This, along with Fox’s need to produce a solid movie following X-Men Origins: Wolverine, secured him the job, but at the expense of David Slade who was moments away from booking his flight tickets to Japan.

kate winslet and sam mendesSam Mendes (Road to Perdition, Jarhead) was unofficially hired as director of Bond 23 back in January and had been flirting with various projects while the MGM situation dragged on for most of the year. With MGM emerging from bankruptcy, a November 2012 release pencilled in, and composer David Arnold revealing this week that the film was “back on” it looks like things will finally get moving on Bond 23.

Now Kate Winslet, who recently divorced from Mendes but remains good friends, revealed that she will be heading back to London next year with their children so that Mendes can work on the next Bond film.

How To Train Your Dragon FilmonicDreamWorks Animation has the most animated franchises out of all the studios, with Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, and it created a new one this year with How to Train Your Dragon.

While it continues to produce original movies (Megamind, Monsters vs. Aliens) the money making sequels are its main priority, and we can expect to see a lot more in the future.

nicholas hoult beast xmenNicholas Hoult, who we heard yesterday was testing for the lead role in Bryan Singer’s Jack the Giant Killer, has been busy filming X-Men: First Class under the direction of Matthew Vaughn for around 4 months now. We have yet to see any official images of the actor as Hank McCoy/Beast, but we should get a glimpse soon as the actor recently revealed filming is drawing to a close.
