Joe Carnahan is a hit-or-miss director for me. His debut film, 1998′s Blood, Guts, Bullets, and Octane, was enjoyable and his movie The Ticker from the BMW series “The Hire” (starring Clive Owen, Don Cheadle, Ray Liotta, and Dennis Haysbert) was one of the better efforts in that excellent collection of short films. Smokin’ Aces was a bit of a wash for me, and I never saw Narc, but when I heard The A-Team was being adapted into a feature, I knew Carnahan’s action-heavy style would be a good fit for the material. The final movie very much knows what it wants to be and has a damn good time being it. The A-Team is easily one of the most fun movies of the year.
Following news earlier today that Iron Man director Jon Favreau would not be returning to direct the third film, currently set for 2013, the director spoke with Hero Complex about his decision. Favreau says he remains close to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, but wanted to make Magic Kingdom for Disney to “blow people away, which is easier to do with a project that isn’t loaded with built-in expectations.”
We recently saw a new game trailer for Batman: Arkham City, the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum which sold over 2 million copies in it’s first week and it earned a spot in the Guinness World Records for the “Most Critically Acclaimed Superhero Game”.
For those who were intrigued by the trailer, Warner Bros has announced that the game and will be coming to PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in fall 2011.
According to Box Office Mojo Warner Bros. has set the Wrath of the Titans release date for March 30th 2012. Clash of the Titans was released April 2nd 2010, so it will hit roughly two years after the first film.
Is it just me or does it seem like the Golden Globes are winging it this year?
The categories for Drama films are full of the expected names, with most nominations echoing the majority of the awards given out so far this season. The only surprises here are Mark Wahlberg’s nomination for The Fighter (suggesting that Marky Mark’s performance in The Departed probably wasn’t a fluke and he might have some acting chops after all) and Halle Berry popping up out of nowhere to grab one for Frankie and Alice.
It’s that time of year again. We’ve recently been getting awards nominations for all the best movies of 2010, and now we’re starting to get cool mash-up videos containing a montage of clips from (most of the) movies released this year. The video embedded below does a good job of mashing them all together, and is nicely edited too.
Universal has released the first trailer for Fast Five which stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster and Tyrese Gibson. Justin Lin, who has been directing the series since 2006′s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, is once again in the directors chair so we know what to expect.

Following it’s 6 Golden Globe Nominations, including Best Drama, Best Director and Best Actor, Sony has decided to set The Social Network DVD and Blu-ray release for January 11th, which is just before all the Oscar-buzz really kicks in.
