There has been a trend recently whereby soundtracks are put online to stream in full before a movie’s release, and as a fan of movie soundtracks it’s one I’d like to continue. This week we’re in luck as Back Lot Records have released a streaming version of M83’s soundtrack for Oblivion which contains all 17 tracks that will feature on the regular release (the Deluxe Edition will have 30 tracks).
You can listen to the Oblivion soundtrack below:
Anthony Gonzalez and Joseph Trapanese make up the band known as M83, and I’m glad director Joseph Kosinski has brought them onto Oblivion as Daft Punk’s music for Tron: Legacy was one of the highlights of that movie. M83 appear to have gone for a Hans Zimmer/Batman vibe, and everything past ‘Raven Rock’ is gold.
“In 2073, ex-Marine Commander Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on an Earth destroyed by an alien invasion 60 years ago. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.
Currently living in huge airborne towns built in the skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence comes crashing down when he rescues a female stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a series of events that forces him to question everything that he knows about the war from the beginning until now.”
Oblivion is due for release 12 April 2013.
