It appears Robin Hood and his merry men have galloped face first into the tree of delay. The Hollywood Reporter say that the Ridley Scott film staring Russell Crowe as the Sheriff of Nottingham has been put on hold. It was supposed to start filming mid-August in London and it is not certain whether the delay is temporary or permanent. Universal have been wary of the SAG negotiations although it is not known what has caused Universal to apply the brakes now.
Sienna Miller was recently cast as Maid Marion and the film was going to take a different approach on the well known story. Instead of having Robin Hood as the heroic vigilante who steals from the rich and gives to the poor, the film would focus on what a thieving bastard he was and put the audience on he Sheriff’s side for once.
I was looking forward to this so I hope everything gets worked out and they start at some point this year. We need to see Russell Crowe get all ‘Maximus Decimus Meridius’ on us again.
