The success of The Avengers has paved the way for Marvel’s upcoming “Phase Two” of movies; all of the big heroes from The Avengers will be back in sequels of their own, with one exception. It looks like our favorite pissed off green monster will have to sit on the sidelines with Hawkeye and Black Widow, at least for a little while. Despite the overwhelmingly positive reception to Mark Ruffalo’s portrayal of Dr. Bruce Banner we won’t be seeing Hulk again till the Avengers sequel.
Marvel’s President of Production, Kevin Feige, confirmed that there aren’t any immediate plans for another standalone Hulk movie during an interview with MTV, but an eventual sequel might be based on the “Planet Hulk,” or “World War Hulk” comic storylines, both fan favorites.
Either way, not seeing Hulk till The Avengers 2 means that any Hulk sequel would happen during Marvel’s Phase Three. That’s a long way to wait considering that Phase Two hasn’t even started yet. With a planned May 2015 release date for The Avengers 2 the soonest we could hope to see another Hulk movie is 2016.
