The Coen Bros. first film since their 2010 remake of True Grit sees them returning to their quirkier, low-budget roots. The filmmakers’ last few films starred the likes of George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Jeff Bridges. No such A-listers in this one. Oscar Isaac (Drive, Sucker Punch) is the lead, playing the titular role of folk singer Llewyn Davis. The rest of the cast includes Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, Garrett Hedlund, and (Coen regular) John Goodman.

Follow a week in the life of a young folk singer as he navigates the Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961. Guitar in tow, huddled against the unforgiving New York winter, he is struggling to make it as a musician against seemingly insurmountable obstacles — some of them of his own making.
The film is scheduled for a limited release on December 6th, followed by a wide release on December 20th.
