A new international trailer for Tom Cruise’s latest sci-fi adventure, Oblivion, has been released by Universal. It’s extremely intriguing and focuses on the very character driven narrative led by Cruise, Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace), and Morgan Freeman. The action seems intense and the post-apocalyptic environment suggests that it will be a very visually engaging movie.

Here’s the synopsis:
“In 2073, ex-Marine Commander Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on an Earth destroyed by an alien invasion 60 years ago. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war, Jack’s mission is nearly complete.
Currently living in huge airborne towns built in the skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence comes crashing down when he rescues a female stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a series of events that forces him to question everything that he knows about the war from the beginning until now.”
The film is based on a graphic novel by its director, Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy) and also stars, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo.
Andrea Riseborough recently spoke to Digital Spy about the project:
“hadn’t read a script for a very long time that had the elements of being, firstly, a really dramatic story, a really beautiful story, full of emotion and pain and sacrifice. And then having an incredible visual aspect that really only a few directors can create. And it has this tantalising science fiction feel where you really never know what’s going to happen.”
Oblivion is due for release in the US and UK on 12 April 2013.
