New trailer for John Dies at the End

john dies at the end still 01 Image John Dies at the End, the horror/sci-fi/comedy based on the novel by David Wong has received a new trailer. The film is written and directed by cult horror movie director Don Coscarelli.

Coscarelli’s directing credits include the campy 80’s hit The Beastmaster and Bubba Ho-Tep, a film about Elvis (played of course by Bruce Campbell) battling mummies. John Dies at the End somehow is stranger than either of those.

Check out the trailer below:

John Dies at the End began as a web serial way back in 2001, before becoming a manuscript in 2004 and finally a paperback in 2007. Soon after Coscarelli acquired the rights and began shooting in 2010. The film premiered at Sundance last January and is due for a release on demand this December to be followed by a theatrical release January 25th 2013.

Here is the film’s official description:

It’s all about the Soy Sauce, a drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. Users drift across time and dimensions. But some who come back are no longer human.

Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. What it gets instead is John (Rob Mayes) and David (Chase Williamson), a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. Can these two stop the oncoming horror in time to save humanity? No. No, they can’t.
