I agree with this.Its clear that the first six Star Trek films in the late 1970's – 1980's deliberately ignored the fact that Yeoman Rand and Nurse Chapel were characters as equally important as the others. And its true that Grace Lee Whitney was assaulted then fired as a cover up. Its also clear that her character was originally the fourth in importance. They should be in the film. And Lieutenant Kyle – he was the posh sounding englishman, wasn't he.

I agree. It's ridiculous that Yeoman Rand and Nurse Chapel are not in – and also Lieutenant Kyle. I Grace Lee Whitney had not been sexually assaulted and subsequently fired back in 1966 her character would have still been the FOURTH most important in the franchise. The latest producers should be ashamed to be going along with this party line.

I have grave doubts about this film. The Trek franchise took a steep nose-dive around the time of Voyager. I guess they’re trying to revive it by going back to familiar characters, but it just doesn’t look right. these actors look like they should be on the Disney Channel or Heroes, not Star Trek.

Grace Lee Whitney may have had very small parts in the final cuts of these films, but she was nevertheless a character: ST:The Motion Picture as CPO Janice Rand; ST III: The Search for Spock; ST IV: The Voyage Home as Commander Janice Rand; and ST VI: The Undiscovered Country again as Commander Rand. In fact, although Walter Koenig was definitely a bigger star in the series as Checkov, you could say Whitney outlasted him because she was present on Captain Sulu’s USS Excelsior in the excellent 1996 episode of Voyager entitled “Flashback.” I believe she might have been Captain Sulu’s first officer, although her screen time was minimal.

Meredith, Chekov had a bigger role on the original series than either Rand or Chapel. In fact, the only movie Rand was in was the Original Motion Picture, and most casual Trekkers don’t remember Chapel.

In the MTV picture, Kirk looks a lot like Doctor Evil’s son, Scott, in his sinister black outfit. I Like his hi-tech swivelling chair but where are the freakin sharks with phasers?!!

Chekov did not show up until the second season of the original. Where are Yeoman Rand and Nurse Chapel? I am an original Trekker and I have my doubts about this movie. Don’t mess with success.

Why does an earlier model starship look like it has more technology onboard? Did they fall prey to “George Lucas syndrome”? Pine and Quinto better act like Oscar winners if they hope to make somehting of this.

I smell a stinkeroo and the end of the Trek franchise.
