In February FirstShowing sat down for an interview with Neal McDonough who hinted that the Captain America movie may be in his future. People speculated that he may have been in contention for the lead role of Steve Rogers, however given that the actor is well into his 40s it didn’t seem likely (although that didn’t stop Downey Jr.)
Well Deadline are reporting that while McDonough won’t be playing Captain America, he will be fighting alongside Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury as S.H.I.E.L.D officer Dum Dum Dugan.
In the comics Dugan helps Nick Fury escape the Nazis during a mission and later joins the British Army. Dugan is known for his marksmanship with rifles and for his impressive physique, along with his trademark bowler hat.
The First Avenger: Captain America will start filming this month in London with a cast that includes Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Hugo Weaving as Red Skull, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, Sebastian Stan as Bucky, Samuel L. Jackson as Nicky Fury and Tommy Lee Jones as General Chester Phillips.
