Not Michelle Monaghan, who was rumoured to be in talks for the role of Silverfox which eventually went to Lynn Collins, but Dominic Monaghan, the dude who played a Hobbit in Lord Of The Rings and had a role in Lost. Just Jared got the exclusive and say he will be playing Beak (AKA Blackwing) in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Who is Blackwing you ask? I don’t know either, but thankfully Wikipedia does.

Born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Blackwing/Beak started developing his powers at puberty. His body changed into that of a humanoid-bird form, with a beaked face, bulbous eyes, wing-like arms that give him the ability to fly (albeit clumsily), talons on his hands and feet, and double-jointed knees.

He also possesses heightened agility, and he may possess heightened senses and a lighter skeletal structure like the avian X-Man formerly known as the Angel. Feeling disgusted and ashamed because of his appearance, Beak ran away from home and went into hiding. He tells Beast that his nickname originated from other teenagers in Rotterdam, who would find him hiding behind beer barrels.

I am liking all of these random mutants being added to the film. The film could get rather boring if we just see Wolverine and Sabretooth fighting for two hours, so at least we have different characters with different powers to fill our mutant needs. I don’t think Dominic is an actor to take a cameo or brief 2 second scene, so I am hoping Blackwing gets a decent small role at least.
