Mickey Rourke in talks for Iron Man 2 villain

mickey-rourkeAccording to Variety Mickey Rourke, who is currently getting Oscar buzz for his role in The Wrestler, is apparently in talks to play a villain in Iron Man 2.

In what would mark his first studio film since resurrecting his career with “The Wrestler,” Mickey Rourke is in talks to play the heavy in “Iron Man 2,” the Marvel Entertainment sequel that director Jon Favreau begins shooting this spring.

Rourke is in discussions to play a villain described as Tony Stark’s Russian alter ego, a heavily tattooed bruiser who is in the arms trade and battles Iron Man in his own nuclear-powered armored suit.

Marvel have kept the script details a secret, however Variety suggest that Rourke may play a character called Crimson Dynamo.

The Hollywood Reporter say that Sam Rockwell is also in talks to play a villain. If the negotations go well he will play Justin Hammer, a multibillionaire businessman and a rival of Tony Stark.
