The Iron Man 2 casting drama continues. We heard in January that Marvel had apparently offered Mickey Rourke $250,000 to play a villain in the sequel, which is considered a low offer seeing as though he has won a ton of Best Actor awards for his role in The Wrestler, and is tipped to win the Oscar. Obviously since then there will have been negotiations between Marvel and Rourke, however it now appears Mickey will not be Iron Man 2 after all.
From New York Magazine:
But so what if ICM’s David Unger doesn’t look good in a dress — at least he’s battling Marvel for a bigger paycheck for Rourke for his rumored role as a villain in Iron Man 2, right? “Right now, we’re not doing Iron Man 2,” Rourke told us grimly.
This follows the news that Emily Blunt may or may not be in Iron Man 2 due to scheduling conflicts, and the departure of Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury. Jon Favreau must be getting annoyed that his first choices aren’t working out. What the hell is going on at Marvel?
