Michelle Rodriguez’s Jail Sentence should not effect Avatar!

Michelle Rodriguez was recently sentenced to 180 days in jail for violating her probation by not completing her community service and not following an alcohol education program. She has until the 24th of December to report to a Los Angeles County jail. Oh dear….Isn’t she supposed to be filming Avatar round about now? Will James Cameron have to change schedules on his $190 million sci-fi epic, just because a certain actress likes alcohol and lied?

Well according to Michelle Rodriguez’s MySpace page, things look positive.

“Yes, it’s true. 180 days in county jail. That is her sentence. But all is well. She is and will be just fine. Just hours after this ruling, she’s as positive as ever.”

“Michelle will still be leaving for New Zealand to film James Cameron’s “Avatar” and will then report back to turn herself in to serve her sentence on Christmas Eve. Michelle is a survivor and is always growing from her experiences, and this will be no different. Nothing will bring her down, especially not something like this.”

Filming of Avatar is expected to finish in February, so there is a chance they may switch some filming days around so that Michelle can get everything done before she has to have Christmas Dinner in jail. Most of the live-action filming is complete so she may only be required for pick ups at a later date. Rodriguez will be playing an ex-Marine pilot in the film, she is not a lead, but it is not a small part either.

I am actually surprised there has been so much filming of Avatar, yet we have had no set reports, sightings…anything. This is rare with large upcoming movies so I have come to the conclusion that the are filming underground, or actually in space where the film is set.
