We’ve already had our dose of Michael Fassbender for this year with Prometheus, which isn’t very much considering the actor appeared in 5 movies in 2011. He’s still as busy as ever though, and before he regains Magneto’s helmet in X-Men: Days of Future Past Fassbender may be joining Natalie Portman in Jane Got a Gun.
The Western, produced and financed by Portman and her production company Handsomecharlie Films, follows a woman (Portman) whose outlaw husband returns home riddled with bullet wounds and barely alive. When her husband’s gang eventually tracks him down to finish the job, she is forced to reach out to an ex-lover and ask if he will help defend her farm. According to Vulture Fassbender is being eyed for the ex-lover role.
We Need to Talk About Kevin director Lynne Ramsay is in charge, and they intend to begin shooting by early 2014. No studio is currently involved and the budget is said to be “well under $20 million”, but with Fassbender and Portman involved it shouldn’t have any problems getting seen.
Michael Fassbender just shot Twelve Years a Slave with Shame director Steve McQueen, and is currently filming The Counselor with his Prometheus director Ridley Scott. Natalie Portman has two Terrence Malick films out next year and will once again play Jane Foster in Thor: The Dark World.
