Megan Fox (Transformers, Jennifer’s Body) is set to reunite with Michael Bay for his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot, according to the director’s blog.
The brief post reads as follows:
TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!
The actress was controversially fired from Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 2010 after likening the director to Hitler. Fox will star in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but her role is currently unconfirmed. She will probably portray April O’Neil, who is the trusted ally of the ninja turtles, and best known for being a plucky news reporter in the cartoon series, which debuted in 1987 and ran until 1996.
Deadline elaborates on the casting announcement:
Looks like Michael Bay doesn’t hold a grudge. He’s just announced via his blog that Megan Fox will star in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the live-action/CGI feature from producer Bay, his Platinum Dunes and Paramount. Jonathan Liebesman is directing. This comes after Fox was most publicly dismissed from Bay’s Transformers threequel back in 2010 after the two clashed (Fox likened Bay to Hitler on set and called him “a nightmare to work for”, which set off a firestorm and led to her getting the boot).
The story chronicles the adventures of master Splinter and his four ninja turtles, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michaelangelo, as they are locked in an epic battle to overcome the evil Shredder and his Foot Clan. The film is currently scheduled for release on 16th May 2014 and has a reported $125 million budget.
