McG suspects Terminator 5 is going to take place in a pre-Judgment Day 2011

terminator_salvation_bale_worthingtonTerminator Salvation takes place in 2018 where Skynet and the machines are running the show. John Connor (Christian Bale) is leading the human resistance who are trying to stay alive and take down Skynet. However, for the sequel McG has suggested that we may see John Connor battling machines in a modern day 2011.

From Film Journal:

“I strongly suspect the next movie is going to take place in a [pre-Judgment Day] 2011,” McG reveals. “John Connor is going to travel back in time and he’s going to have to galvanize the militaries of the world for an impending Skynet invasion. They’ve figured out time travel to the degree where they can send more than one naked entity. So you’re going to have hunter killers and transports and harvesters and everything arriving in our time and Connor fighting back with conventional military warfare, which I think is going to be fucking awesome.

I also think he’s going to meet a scientist that’s going to look a lot like present-day Robert Patrick [who famously played the T-1000 in Terminator 2], talking about stem-cell research and how we can all live as idealized, younger versions of ourselves.”

McG has said in the past that he has a outline for the new trilogy, so this will no doubt be part of the master plan. I wonder where the third film will take place? When you introduce time travel anything is possible. Skynet vs. the dinosaurs anyone?

  • with time travel you also get away with no continuity between the films, just say it's happening in an alternate timeline - (exactly how they explained Terminator The Sara Connor Chronicles).

According to T3, Judgment day is/was July 24, 2004. So unless they view T3 as not cannon (which is odd because Cameron gave T3 his blessing, and was happy with it), they are really messing with continuity.

I'm not saying going back in time to 2011 would be bad, but make it count, and not a giant hole in the movie's continuity.

That all being said, I would simply love to see a T-800 kill John Connor in the 6th movie. (The T-800 from T3 claimed this), and I see it as a fitting end to the series.

right on well said. but i wish they could also use time travle through demensions, showing judment day in 1997, and the future of 2029, like said in the original, but you know they dont want to fuck people heads up any more than the have...but it would be cool to make every thing including the tv show count...instead of disregarding every thing...its all Terminator lor.

well said. but i wish they would show judgment day of 1997 and the future 0f 2029 like they said in the future...that would be awsome maybe time travle through demensions...but they probly dont want to fuck with the peoples heads more than they already have...but it would be cool to make every thing said in all the films and the tv show count instead of picking and choosing, its all TERMINATOR lore.
  • Too many people would complain along with mainstream reviewers. Time travel logic annoys people without imagination.

This idea that McG has for a 5th Terminator movie is F@#$ING RETARTED. They should just stop now and leave the story where it is. He is going to complety destroy the terminator franchise.
