Marvel’s first non-Avengers related movie, Runaways, was gearing up for filming early next year under the direction of Peter Sollett (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist), however according to Deadline Marvel has put the movie on hold as they have “too much going on at the moment” and “will take its time” with the adaptation.
Director Peter Sollett is still attached, but Marvel has suggested he take on another movie first which means it could be another year before things start moving again.
The comic follows a group of six kids whose parents are a criminal group of mob bosses, time-travelers, dark wizards, mad scientists, alien invaders and telepathic mutants. The kids steal weapons and resources from their parents, and learn they themselves inherited their parents’ powers. With a mix between Twilight and X-Men Marvel could have had a hit with Runaways, but I guess it will have to wait.
