Margot Robbie will reunite with her Suicide Squad director David Ayer for Warner’s upcoming all female DC villains movie, something called Gotham City Sirens.
According to Deadline David Ayer is set to direct and produce Gotham City Sirens. This is going to be based on the comic series of the same name (written by Paul Dini), which is centered around Gotham City characters like Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Poison Ivy or Talia al Ghul. It’s a movie Margot Robbie has been pitching to the studio for months and now they’re finally ready to move forward with it. Obviously the box office success of Suicide Squad, currently the 8th highest grossing movie of 2016 with $745.6 million worldwide, played a huge factor in Warner’s decision to give Gotham City Sirens the green light.
No idea what that’s going to mean for Suicide Squad 2, but I’m guessing David Ayer might not be back, at least not in the director chair. Or maybe they’ll just push that further back so he can do both. Back to Gotham City Sirens, the screenplay is being written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who’s IMDB credits include only movies that have yet to come out, like the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot or Sherlock Holmes 3. Getting all these big studio titles rifht off the bat, I guess she must be doing something right. There’s no casting news yet for Gotham City Sirens and of course no release date either. And I bet they’ll end up calling it just Sirens in the end.
So who would you want playing Catwoman? What about Poison Ivy? Here’s a crazy idea, Emma Stone as Catwoman. Just think about that for a minute before calling me names. What about Jessica Chastain as Poison Ivy? I know I’m on to something.
