Reviews for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel are pouring in, and depending on which you read it’s either a grand spectacle that rivals The Avengers in the action department or a flawed movie with little story or character development. Regardless of the critical reception, Man of Steel will probably make a lot of money when it opens this week, and Warner Bros. has already started work on the sequel.
According to Deadline director Zack Snyder will be back and David S. Goyer will once again be working on the screenplay. Christopher Nolan is also expected to be involved in some capacity, but his role won’t be as “full blown”.
The studio will obviously be waiting for the final box office takings before moving ahead officially, but they have a lot riding on Man of Steel so I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a sequel regardless. The studio has been trying to get their DC movie universe on track for a while. Green Lantern didn’t work, but Man of Steel should ultimately set them on course for a Justice League movie further down the line. David Goyer’s deal with Warner Bros. includes it, so expect him to be the DC version of Joss Whedon (just with writing instead of directing).
