Let’s see Christian Bale do this!

It's refreshing to see such a talented actor be so wonderfully affable. In post-Thorton and Bale blowups it's good to see a celebrity not take himself so seriously.

I chose Bale because he was the only lead actor in a superhero movie I could think of at the time. I could have chosen Robert Downey Jr but I could see him doing it.

I can see RDJ doing something like this as well, which is kind of scary...

Bale didn't need to promote Dark Knight. It promoted itself just fine with out him or any of the other actors doing crazy stuff. If a movie is good it should be able to stand on its own.

Christian Bale thinks too highly of himself to "waste" his time promoting his films to his fans. It's not like it's the fans that buy the tickets anyhow... right??

The guy is full of himself, this is clear by how he NEVER appears in any of the conventions while all of the other stars and the director shows up every time to promote Terminator, how he verbally assaults his mother to the point where police had to be called, and how he verbally assaults someone for doing something accidentally. No matter how dumb that guy's action was, it didn't warrant a 10 minute verbal assault.

Christian Bale is a good actor, but he really needs to get over himself and stop taking the fans for granted. One day the fans will get sick of his crap, but luckily for him right now he's still the freakin golden child. You will see this in all of the people about to flame me for pointing out an obvious fact.

Or it could be that when all the conventions were going on he was promoting The Dark Knight or he was in the process of filming his other picture Public Enemies. That couln't possiably be a reason right? No you just think he's a jerk for not acting like a baffoon for your entertianment. As for the other things 1st off the rant in question was 4 min and 2nd get over yourself. You weren't there you don't know what happened in either of those situation, its old news he aploigized to everyone involved and to the world for his behavior. Nope, what I forgot to also add is that not only does he not show up to the conventions but we don't get any recorded messages, no speakerphone conversations, no nothing. You know when you watch an award show and the winner is busy somewhere, he'll have a video to play so people know he isn't just somewhere not caring about the award? Yah, never one of those and that would take, what, 10 seconds to record? Oh yah, I'm sure he doesn't have 10 seconds to spare.

Oh, and it was ONLY 4 minutes??? WOW, man, do yourself a huge favor, get out a stop watch and and do jumping jacks for 4 minutes, hold your breath for 4 minutes, cross your eyes for 4 minutes, heck, just sit there and watch the stop watch for 4 minutes.

You don't have to be there. Plenty of people have pissed me off, I've never ranted at them for 4 minutes, I've never had the police called on me due to my verbal assault. Oh, and he said sorry? Oh, I'm sure he doesn't have a reputation to protect, it's not like he apologized only after someone else brought the topic up or anything, oh yah, lol.

I watched all the award shows this year and except for the Oscars, which was only attended by the director, the crew and Ledgers family, he was at every single one in support of the movie, his director and his fellow cast/crew members whether he was nominated for an award or not.
And at everyone of those awards shows I didn't see Michael Caine or Morgan Freeman in the audience who were also in the Dark Knight and Batman Begins, dose that make them jerks for not showing up for the fans. No it just means they had other things they had to do. OMG string them up for having a life outside of their freaking jobs which is to make movies, not parade around on stage and kiss the butts of every ticket buyer in the world.

Why do we have to have every actor trotted out into the public for our amusement. What else can they say about movie that they haven't already said to 50 other talk shows and magazine reporters. I don't want hear the same crap over and over again. It gets boring.

As for his rant yes it was extreme, I'm not saying it didn't go over board but it happened last year. No one was fired, no one quite and according to the director and several of his crew and cast mates that where there that day, after he calmed down he apologized to all those effected and they finished to shot. We never would have heard anything about this had not some low life scum sold the audio.

Yes he has a reputation to maintain, so does everyone when emotion are high and things get said and done that shouldn't have, duh. You would to if you went off a co-worker or family member whether in small scale or big. You don't want people thinking that's the only side to you. Why should he? Leigh, seriously, were you born yesterday? I'm not talking about award shows, I was using that as an EXAMPLE of the RECORDED messages winners sometimes prepare if they are too BUSY to be there in person like you are claiming Bale to be for theise CONVENTIONS. I'm not saying he doesn't show up to award shows, I'm talking about the lack of any attempt to show anything to his fans who show up to these conventions or at any venue where promotion of his movies are taking place. Seriously, if I have to draw every little detail out with crayon like this the discussion will move very very slowly... So don't worry about it. You love Christian Bale and he can do no wrong, we get it. I've seen the old videos of the girls screaming for the Beetles, don't worry, I'm not surprised, it's not new...

He didn't apologize because he really thought he did something wrong, he apologized because he knew it was perceived negatively and he wants to maintain his reputation. PLEASE TELL ME YOU UNDERSTAND! And about nobody getting fired, that's not the point, my whole point is what kind of mentality a person must have to throw such a tantrum in the first place. It doesn't matter if it happened last week or 2 years ago, the fact that he did it, that's the evidence I'm putting on the table.

2nd yes I enjoy Bales work and no he CAN do wrong. He proved he was very much human and capable of making a horrible choice in behavior and now he's paying the price. But, unlike some celebs he's not going on every talk show trying to kiss ass and explain himself. Yes I understand the reputation saving thing. I understand that after hearing all this for week he came forward to a local California radio station, not a national talk show, a local station that he himself listens to and apologized. And then that was it. He moved on and went back to work.

Uh, if you actually understood, then that means you were intentionally trying to avoid the actual topic and start talking about award shows and what-not which was NEVER the topic at hand. Then I change my statement, nice "red herring" attempt. I wonder if you actually thinks that helps the argument. Ken, sweetie. The original topic was lets see Bale do this. Which was in reference to Jackman dancing around on a talk show like a monkey. My original comment to this was Bale didn't need to because if a movie is good enough it should be able to stand on its on without its actors having to promote the crap out of it. Your comment was off topic in regards to his being a jerk and about the whole rant thing which had nothing to do with the topic that started all of this. First of all, as you can tell by my comment NOT being a reply to your comment about whether or not Bale "needs" to promote his movies or not, deductive reasoning should have told you that my comment is not related to yours, so thus you shouldn't respond to it with the misconception that I was making any sort of remark regarding whatever you were talking about. So really, bringing up your "original" comment into this "discussion" is yet another red herring since it's actually unrelated to what I've been talking about.
