I Am Legend is based on a book, and while the movie was much different the character Robert Neville was not, and Will Smith played him perfectly. But with that the whole point of the story is how we deal with loneliness. Them showing in depth as to how he became isolated would ruin the imagination of it. Plus I Am Legend can stand on it's own, it's doesn't need help from another movie. They should not make a prequel.
