Over recent months there has been a lot of talk surrounding the upcoming sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman, with initial reports saying that Kristen Stewart would not be returning. This followed news of a scandal between Stewart and the film’s married director Rupert Sanders.
Well it’s now being reported by Radar Online that it’s not Stewart who is out for the sequel, but Sanders.
The decision for Sanders not to return appears to have been his own, as Universal has remained supportive of him. His decision appears to be based on personal reasons as well as potential scheduling conflicts with other projects. Sanders is set to direct Sony’s upcoming sci-fi The Juliet, based on the short story by Alfred Bester.
Stewart’s highly successful and much reviled Twilight series is at an end; the final installment, Breaking Dawn: Part 2, is currently in theaters. Her film On the Road is due out in the U.S. on December 21st, but after that she isn’t involved in any upcoming projects other than the Snow White sequel.
Universal is currently searching for the sequel’s director.
