Gwen in the comics was the next-door smart cute girl they couldn't do anything more with, so they killed her. Mary is supposed to be a FUN character in the vein of super model/ soap star hot person dating the nice science nerd. The movies really ruined that part of the relationship. I think they need to at least do a film without MJ, or recast her with somebody with more style like Kate Hudson or such.
