Over the weekend there have been a few reports popping up (the source being a British tabloid) saying that Jane Goldman, writer of Stardust and Kick-Ass, was busy writing the script for Kick-Ass 2. In response Goldman took to her Twitter account to set things straight and give an update on her projects.
Saw a few erroneous reports today that I’m currently writing Kick Ass 2 script – sorry if anyone’s disappointed, but not true. Currently writing for 2 other projects, then on to lovely Matthew V’s next thing (right now, looks unlikely to be KA2) when X-Men post-prod’ ends.
Matthew Vaughn brought Goldman on-board X-Men: First Class to rewrite the script when he signed on as director.
Vaughn’s next project isn’t known at the moment, although it could be one of two comic book adaptations. American Jesus, which revolves around a 12-year-old boy who discovers he is the Messiah and takes on the Antichrist in a final battle to save humankind, or Bloodshot which follows a former mob killer who is double-crossed by his employers and murdered. He’s revived by the FBI via a secret process that pumps nanites into his bloodstream, healing his wounds and making him close to indestructible.
There is also a chance that it could be a non-comic book project, which may be better for Vaughn as he’s already got two comic book franchises on the go. At this rate we may not see Kick-Ass 2 until 2013 or beyond.
X-Men: First Class will be released in June and The Woman in Black, which is written by Goldman and stars Daniel Radcliffe, will be released later this year.
