A few weeks ago we heard that Universal was pursuing Jim Carrey for the role of The Colonel in Kick-Ass 2. It’s not a very large role, but The Colonel is an important supporting character who “helps galvanize the team of misfit super heroes assembled to fight evil.”
Nothing had been confirmed since and at the time some weren’t sure if Carrey would do it, but a tweet from director Jeff Wadlow suggests it might be a done deal.
6 days till we start shooting… and we officially have our Colonel. Alrighty f’n then!

As it’s the weekend we probably won’t get anything solid until next week, but Wadlow’s usage of Carrey’s well known quote from Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is a big indication the actor will be appearing in the film.
The film will follow Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass 2 comic which first hit shelves last October. The story follows the main character Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson) who is trying to form a team of real life superheroes, as well as preparing for the arrival of The Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), who has been gathering a team of “Supervillains” to take both Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl (Chloe Moretz) down.
Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn is producing, and Wadlow is directing from a script he wrote.
