Last week saw many developments within the Marvel movie universe following the release of The Avengers teaser trailer and Patty Jenkins signing on to director Thor 2.
While at the New York Comic Con this weekend Marvel Studios’ President of Production Kevin Feige spoke about what he calls ‘Phase 2′ of Marvel’s movies, and said he hopes to see Doctor Strange involved in the future.
Cinema Blend live-blogged the panel, which included Clark Gregg, Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans and Mark Ruffalo, and Feige announced:
Iron Man 3 will be the first in what we’re calling phase 2 that will hopefully result in an Avengers 2.
Following the panel IGN caught up with Feige who said an announcement regarding a Doctor Strange movie would be coming “sooner rather than later” and he hopes to include him in ‘Phase 2′, so we could see Strange in The Avengers sequel. He’s a short video of the interview:
We haven’t heard much on the Doctor Strange movie for a while now, however Conan the Barbarian and Cowboys and Aliens scribes Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer were hired to write the script last year. Given the poor reception of both movies Marvel may be re-assessing the script, but in the meantime they are focusing on The Avengers, and Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 for 2013.
