According to Deadline Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder are interested in having Kevin Costner (Dances with Wolves, Waterworld) play a “key role” in their upcoming Superman reboot. This role is unspecified at the moment, however it could be either Superman’s birth father Jor-El, surrogate parent Pa Kent, or Daily Planet editor Perry White.
Costner has steered clear of big franchise roles over recent years so it will be interesting to see the actor in this type of movie, as it will be to see an actor like Kevin Bacon in X-Men: First Class later this year. Whichever role he is up for he’ll be joining Henry Cavill who is playing Clark Kent/Superman.
Costner was last seen in The Company Men and is apparently planning to get back in the director’s chair for the World War II action movie, A Little War of Our Own.
