When George Lucas stepped down as head of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy was named the co-chair and the one who would head up the new Star Wars trilogy. She is also a frequent collaborator of Lucas’ close friend Steven Spielberg and has acted as a producer on all three previous Jurassic Park films, but will not return for Jurassic Park IV.

Some thought that she would return for the upcoming fourth Jurassic Park film as well as the new Star Wars trilogy, but Kennedy’s husband and fellow producer Frank Marshall confirmed over Twitter that she would not be back for another Jurassic Park and will focus all her effort on Star Wars.

Jurassic Park IV has been stuck in developmental hell since the release of Jurassic Park III way back in 2001. After various tossed out scripts and numerous delays and issues, including the death Michael Crichton, the movie is finally moving forward with a script by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, writers of Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

So far there has not been any word on a director, although there has been plenty of speculation. All we know so far is that Spielberg, who directed the first two Jurassic Park installments, will not be back in the director’s chair but he’ll still be producing.
