According to Deadline Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, writers of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, will be moving from primates to reptiles as they’ve been hired by Universal to write Jurassic Park 4.
Steven Spielberg said last year that Jurassic Park 4 is “on the schedule” and he’d assigned I Am Legend screenwriter Mark Protosevich to work on a draft. The studio obviously thinks they can do better, so they’ve hired Jaffa and Silver to take another shot. I enjoyed Rise of the Planet of the Apes greatly, so it’ll be interesting to see what they can do with dinosaurs (and how creative they are at getting humans to return to the island).
Universal Pictures has set a July 19, 2013 release date for Jurassic Park 3D. Steven Spielberg’s original dinosaur movie made $915 million worldwide back in 1993 and the re-release may push it over the $1 billion mark.
