According to Deadline Julianne Moore is on the verge of joining The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. If things work out the actress will play District 13 leader Alma Coin, a “very manipulative” character who will have a prominent role in the final two films.
Moore will join a cast that includes Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Stanley Tucci, and Donald Sutherland. Francis Lawrence is currently in post-production on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire but he’ll return to direct both Mockingjay movies back-to-back.
In the finale, we follow heroine Katniss Everdeen’s journey as she leads the districts of Panem in a rebellion against the tyrannical and corrupt Capitol. As the war that will determine the fate of Panem escalates, Katniss must decipher for herself who she can trust and what needs to be done, with everything she cares for in the balance.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 will open November 21, 2014, followed by The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 on November 20, 2015.
