We finally have the first official trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming, the web-slinger’s first solo movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fortunately it doesn’t disappoint.
After Tom Holland knocked it out of the park earlier this year in Captain America: Civil War, I kind of figured Spider-Man: Homecoming could be something special. And while this little trailer didn’t blow my mind, it showed plenty of things to get excited about. For starters I love that you can clearly see he’s still a kid that’s constantly amazed by the things he can do. This is not a battle-hardened superhero, he’s a high school kid with superpowers and dreams of becoming an Avenger. We also see a bit of Vulture and a lot more Tony Stark than I expected going in. Especially that thing at the end, didn’t think they’d already show something like that in the very first trailer. All in all I’m pleased and Spider-Man: Homecoming is still one of my most anticipated movies of 2017.
Jon Watts (Cop Car) directed Spider-Man: Homecoming as well as co-wrote it with Jonathan M. Goldstein, John Francis Daley, Christopher Ford, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Okay, that many cooks makes me worry a bit. Starring in the film are Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Michael Keaton, Jon Favreau, Donald Glover, Zendaya, Hannibal Buress and many others.
Spider-Man: Homecoming drops July 7th 2017 in the US and around the world.
