Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s name has been thrown around for a lot of upcoming movies recently. In the past week the actor has been linked to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and the new Godzilla movie, but he won’t be appeared in either of those as according to Deadline he’s signed up for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play the role of Johnny, one of the core characters in the film. The part was originally offered to Johnny Depp, which just goes to show how far Levvit has come thanks to strong turns in movies such as Looper, Inception, and The Dark Knight Rises.
The film will act as both a prequel and sequel to 2005’s Sin City, with interlinking stories set both before and after the first film. Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Dennis Haysbert and Jamie Chung are already confirmed to star, and there’s still some roles still to be filled. Deadline says Josh Brolin (Men in Black 3) is being considered for a tough guy character, and more actors from the first film may be making a return.
Filming is already shooting, and has been since October with Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller both returning to co-direct. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is scheduled to be released on October 4, 2013
