In February we heard that Christopher Nolan was interested in re-teaming with Inception actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt for The Dark Knight Rises, and now Variety reports “after weeks of quiet negotiations” Gordon-Levitt has locked his deal with Warner Bros. to appear in the film.
No details yet on who Gordon-Levitt will be playing, but there has been speculation he will be Deadshot, a member of the League of Shadows (the group of vigilante ninjas led by Ra’s al Ghul (Liam Neeson) in Batman Begins).
Variety also say Juno Temple is being eyed for a supporting role as a “street-smart Gotham girl”. Temple is a British actress who has been making the rounds on the indie circuit and recently finished filming Killer Joe opposite Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch. She was also seen in Year One, and plays Queen Anne in The Three Musketeers which will hit screens in October.
Filming on The Dark Knight Rises is set to begin in May, with the release date set for July 20th, 2012. Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman will reprise their roles alongside new additions Tom Hardy (Bane) and Anne Hathaway (Catwoman).
