Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot has gone through various writing teams since it was announced back in 2010. Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway were initially hired to write the script, and last year Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, who recently worked on Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol for the studio, we brought in to re-write.
Now it looks like the script is close to shooting potential, as Variety reports that Jonathan Liebesman is in talks to direct.
Liebesman directed Battle: Los Angeles and his next movie, Wrath of the Titans, will be released next month. Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing the reboot, which little is known about at the moment.
Years ago producer Scott Mednick said the film may employ face replacement technology which would allow the turtles to be much more expressive. This suggests they could be a mix of both actor and CGI, but that comment was made before Avatar so they may go full motion-capture similar to what we saw with Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
