Jonah Hill rejoins Django Unchained

jonah hill unchained Image With a new trailer this week, we’ve got another big announcement for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. Jonah Hill is back on board the train to Django Town!

With word that his casting had unfortunately fallen through, we limped on in sadness shaking our heads at what could have been. But alas! The horizon has changed. According to Deadline, we now have it official that he’s back in the film, getting a late start, but better late than never.

I remember Hill being pegged for a role personally by the legend himself, early on pre-production, but that one was for Scotty Harmony, a kid who loses Django’s (Jamie Foxx) slave wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) to the charming and shithead plantation owner Calvin Candie (Dicaprio). Hill, subsequently, had to turn the job down due to scheduling conflicts. Stupid Ben Stiller.

People, things like almost never happen. The film is currently lensing in New Orleans. Whoever the hell’s got lucky stars, they better be thanking every one of the things right now. I am. It’s pretty cool how people weave in and out of each other’s films and movies like this. He’s also working with Dicaprio on The Wolf of Wall Street who’s the main antagonist in this.

The kid’s got stuff to offer up, and he’ll be sure to give it all to whatever role he steps into in this. At 28 years old, he steps away from a Tarantino film, shoots a whole movie, then comes back and says, “Let’s do this.” With an Oscar nod under his belt, and a smash hit this year with 21 Jump Street, it looks like his career is really on track for greatness. From Shiny Goldfish shoes with a shaky, creepy, geekiness…to an Oscar nod and working with Tarantino and Scorsese.

Django Unchained hits theaters December 25th this year. Down with Slavery. Up with Quentin.
